Fellowship Breakfast
1st Sunday of each month, 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.
Eat together; pray together - all are welcome to join us for a wonderful breakfast in our fellowship hall. At the very least we give prayers of thanks for the delicious efforts of the Woodside Village Church's finest cooks - and we guarantee you will get to church on time!
Fellowship Coffee Hour
Sunday mornings after Worship Service
What church doesn't have a coffee hour? Ours is put together by volunteers from our various committees and groups and goes way beyond the usual decaf and tea options. And while it is tempting to say it can be the best part of a Sunday morning, we will resist temptation and say it's a tasty and friendly way to follow-up the joyous weekly celebration in our Sanctuary.
Scripture Study
Every Tuesday 7:30 p.m.
Every Wednesday, 11 a.m.
Please join Pastor Mike at an informal gathering to discuss the scripture text for the coming Sunday. The Sermon Scripture Study is in the church library or conference room.
Village Potluck
3rd Tuesday of each month, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
On the third Tuesday of every month, a potluck is held in our Guild Hall. The meal is always wonderful, an amazing circumstance considering very little organization goes into it. Each family or individual attending brings their choice of a main dish, salad, or dessert to share. The result is always delicious and the fellowship, the best!
Giving Circle
Monthly on various days/times
The WVC Giving Circle consists of a group of community and church affiliates who pool their resources to fund and support one-time specific, immediate needs of individuals, families and causes in the Bay Area, focusing primarily on the peninsula. Funding by members may be annual or on a monthly basis. Decisions regarding funding (cause and amount) are made by the majority of attending members at regularly scheduled meetings.
Living Solo Women
2nd Wednesday of each month, 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Widow or divorced women of all ages are invited to a wonderful support group lead by Kathy Mueller, a psychotherapist and Barbara Tagg, a long time Woodside resident and member of The Woodside Village Church.
Kathy and Barbara guide these women in the sometimes perplexing issues connected with living alone, especially after having been part of a pair. Practical considerations as well as emotional and spiritual issues are dealt with in a safe, supportive environment that can also be quite lively.
Women's Fellowship Group
Women's Fellowship has been very generous to our church and community. From the proceeds of the rummage sales they are able to maintain the Guild Hall and kitchen donate to various charities (Heifer Project, One Great Hour of Sharing etc.), and make facility improvements. The Women's Fellowship Group is open to all women in our congregation.
Boutique and Furniture Items — call office for next date
Our boutique & furniture items sale, sponsored by the Women's Fellowship, is an event that has put the Woodside Village Church on the map. Donations are collected throughout the year and are sold at extremely low prices to the community at large, often including shoppers from all over San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.
Men's Fellowship Group
Various Fridays night dinners throughout the year
The Woodside Village Church is fortunate to have an active men's fellowship that includes some very fine chefs, and their periodic Friday night dinners - sometimes barbecue on the patio, sometimes scaloppini in the fellowship hall - are always well attended. Local community members as well as all the men of the congregation are invited!
Lenten Soup Suppers
Every Tuesday during Lent, 6:30 p.m.
Each week during the season of Lent, one of our committees-our Ministries-takes on the preparation of a soup supper, held in our fellowship hall. This satisfying meal, to which all are welcome, is followed by a prayer vigil in the Chapel.
Thanksgiving Feast
Held in the later part of November on a Sunday
Turkey dinner and all the trimmings are served. Bring your family, neighbors and friends for a wonderful meal prepared by volunteers.
Thanksgiving Eve Pie Night
7:30 p.m. after Service
What a treat! And something else to give thanks for-after a special service of thanksgiving in the Sanctuary, a delicious array of homemade pies (provided by our congregation) is served in our fellowship hall.
Plum Pudding Party
Usually the Sunday before Christmas
A fifty-year tradition at the Woodside Village Church, the annual Christmas season Plum Pudding Party features an outdoor fire, a rousing round of carol-singing, and even a visit from Santa! Families with children especially enjoy this event which features authentic steamed plum puddings made by members of the congregation, complete with hard sauce, and coffee and hot chocolate.
The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30 am.
